Are you equestrian minded? There is barrel racing and an endurance race. Runners may choose from trail or paved foot races, from short 5K to a marathon or triathlon. And bike races suit mountain bikers or road cyclists. There is even a new motorcycle series that includes using the Red Rock Speedway of Moab, Utah. Not on the calendar yet: BMX and Skateboard competitions. Contact the Club Red, the Moab Teen Center. They are still putting together the details for events, likely in MAY.
Coming up on the April Event Calendar for Moab Utah:
The AMASA trail foot race is a distance of 6 or 9 miles on April 9th by Grass Roots Events.
On April 9th, is a Marathon from Hwy 313 to conclude at the Colorado River north of Moab. It is based out of the Aarchway Inn; takes place on pavement.
For April 23rd– There is a new motorcycle race series called the 4 corners championship series! Five tracks are on board: Grand Junction motor speedway, Moab Red Rock Speedway for a one day race (April 23rd), Monticello Bullhollow, Huntington Ironhorse, and the Price track.
You missed the March 19, 2011 Canyonlands Half Marathon taking place on Scenic By-Way Hwy 128, a.k.a. the river road. Interested Athletes will have to catch the Other Half in October or plan now to enter for the spring 2012 half marathon race. And you missed March 26, 2011, the 24 Hour Foot Race is a course of 5-8 mile loops offering more aid than any other 100 mile race. Race solo or enter a team of up to ten athletes. And March 26 & 27 is MOTOX the Red Rock Dirt Series Motorcycle races.
Moving on to May:
May 13 & 14 2011 is the first Annual Triathlon Festival, yes Festival, it goes on for three days. Choose the XTERRA style or, if you prefer, incorporate a road bike segment, instead of the mountain bike choice. Special kid appropriate triathlon distances. Making this one competitive weekend in Moab for the entire family.
Volunteer Aid Station During Moab Trail Race
On May 14 2011, get 70 paved miles through Red Rock cliffs from Swanny Park in downtown Moab over the La Sal Loop Road back to Moab with one vehicle and six runners running two legs each during the cooperative event of the Moab Relay, co-joined with the Red Rock Relay brand.

June in Moab:
June 10 -11 2011, the Rockwell Relay starts at Swanny Park Moab to complete 516 miles to the finish. Teams of 4 road cyclists average 3 legs in this relay of 12 legs over backcountry paved roads to finish in western Utah.
June 12-18 2011 Grueling 148 mile Kokopelli averages 9 or 50 miles a day between Grand Junction and Moab Utah. Take the Desert R.A.T.S. challenge. trail foot race
For July, the local Moab Library will have a Saturday Boat race on Ken’s Lake. Trophies for the most creative design, most adequate to float, some finishers. Check with the librarians in the kid department for more details for this fun day.
September 1-10 10 days across Utah LAGBRAU not exactly a race, but a road bike event, never-the-less.
September 24 2011 Autumn 10K Run Moab Autumn 10K Run will begin and end at Swanny Park in beautiful Moab, Utah. Come and enjoy the cool fall weather in Southern Utah! Events will include a 10K, 5K, and Kids’ K. All proceeds from the event go to the students of Moab Charter School and the Grand County High School Boys and Girls Cross Country teams.
October 8 – 9 2011 24 Hour Mountain Bike is a premier race for the competitive mountain bike circuit and other deemabley aggressive mountain bike athletes.
October 8-9 2011 50 K Trail Run 5 hour cut off at mile 23 Start at Jug Rock.
October 27-29 2011 appeals to the Endurance Horse racer. No backtracking or repeat trails and incredible scenery. horse race
October 16, 2011-01-24 The Other Half – half marathon finishes at Sorrel River Ranch. paved foot race
The Super D and DH races are on Saturday, the 29th at 1pm and 3pm during the Chile Ho-Down. These downhill mountain bike races will be a hoot to spectate, as athletes show incredible control, blasting down the Porcupine Trail.
Barrel racing will be taking place at the Old Spanish Trail Arena on October 1, 2; October 29, 30; and November 12, 13th.
Which bleeds into November:
Danelle Ballenge, proven adventure racer, is the director of I’m Crazy Events. Marathon and half marathon on November 5, 2011 race. It will be a trail foot race.
Turkey Trot November 19 Saturday is a race by Moab City recreation. Register with john at Moab City Recreation. It will be a paved foot race.
December 3 2011 Winter Sun 10 K the weekend is full of holiday festivities with craft shopping, a night time parade of lights and caroling. It is also a paved foot race.
